With the era of globalization and modernization, it is impossible to go through our daily life without any existence of technology. The simplest will be the cellphone itself, whereby everyone have it. Then to some context, the usage of computer, laptop and up to extent of e-book and so on especially for us, the future educator.
With such, the term CALL will not be a alien term for us. CALL application such as courseware, websites and other type of material usage in teaching and learning process cannot be deniable and of course it benefit a lot. But then, it is always important to evaluate the CALL material before using or applying it in the classroom context. For me, the significant of having the evaluation before hand is because of the P.R.S aspect of that material. P will stand for practicality, R is reliability and S will be suitability. As a future educator, I have be able to understand my learners' language level and ability and it will come the importance of P.R.S, in which the application need to meet my learners' ability. Practicality will be the point of the exercise can be done without so much hassle and vast knowledge in technology. Then, reliability will be on the interrelatedness of the content with the outcome to be measure and lastly the suitability is when either it fits or not my learners level and schemata on the language content.
Learning technology is quite interesting especially when it will help me in my teaching and learning process. Here, come the application know the 'Hot Potatoes' and I just learned on the JCloze materials and amazingly how it will be really helpful for me. It is so suitable in designing the cloze passage and even gap filling exercises within the blink of eye. This type of exercises can be as quite essential in drilling and practicing out the language content that been learned by the learner. Not only that, with all the clues and supportive encouragement given, I believed that it will attract learners interest in finishing the exercise. Besides that, the learner can know their achievement by knowing their score at the end. Overall, teacher will be the one who will be designing the exercises, meaning that he or she knows the learners' capability and it will help the learners learn English better more.
